Monday the 23rd of March was a sad day for Active Podiatry as, following advice from government and our professional body, I had to close my practice for all appointments except emergencies to keep both my clients and staff safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Not resting on my laurels, I have been looking at ways I can help my clients who are suffering from foot ankle and leg pain while maintaining social distancing, and Telehealth Video Consultations have proved to be very effective. Via an encrypted video link I can talk to clients and assess their problem, prescribe treatment plans and reviews, and give general reassurance and advice where needed. Whilst not a complete replacement for traditional face to face appointments, it is surprising how much can be achieved with this method and the response has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
This new way of delivering health care is proving quite popular in other health care sectors, such as the GP service, and I believe we are going to be seeing a lot more health care appointments delivered this way in the future. I have had excellent feedback from clients using the service and will be continuing to offer Telehealth consultations as an option once our doors are open for business again.
Take care and stay safe.
