Discussions are ongoing between Maidstone Borough Council and Marden Parish Council regarding the continuing overflow problems at the Marden car park. One of the options on the table is to have a time limited restriction, perhaps 6 hours (no return within 1 hour).  This would be instead of the current restrictions of no parking from 07:15 to 08:15. On 17 February 2014 the Prime Minister announced a new scheme to support all small and medium sized businesses in flood affected areas that have been impacted by the floods and suffered a significant loss of trade.
